Known for discovering emerging talent and bringing it to the attention of the world, Opening Ceremony has built a reputation on its track record of extraordinary taste. The founders, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon have built an empire in 10 short years. Their style and collaborations with the hottest designers of the day resulted in them taking over as chief designers at Kenzo. Fabulous pieces from the Kenzo line can naturally be found in store.
In recent years, the Soho store has expanded and when we visited last week, we were pleasantly surprised to see that it’s now almost its own mini department store.
The shoe department in the basement is beyond unique. Not only do they sell shoes by hot brands like Nicolas Kirkwood, but they also have shoes made specifically for them. The K Jacques for Opening Ceremony are the best we’ve seen anywhere.
We love the clothing collaboration they’ve done with Keds. The Keds dresses and tops are gorgeous and some of our favorite easy casual pieces for the summer. The thing that we often forget about this store, is that they offer up their own twist on classic designs, working with some of the best brands in the industry. Their Barbour coats with the little flower details when you roll of the sleeves are a classic example.
The top floor has fabulous swimsuits by favorites like Pret-A-Surf and the store’s own brand bikinis. They also sell a beautifully selected array of art and style books. The accessories are incredible with everything from tiny hats fit for a Royal Wedding to spiked cuffs by the likes of Joomi Lim.
Don’t let the über fashion reputation scare you, the staff here are super helpful and there are finds for even the most conservative dresser who wants a little more style in their life.
