Prints that Please

Despite the onslaught of hot weather, we never want to give up some sense of style when running around New York.  It’s always a challenge to find beautiful clothes that are also light as a feather and cool in the summer months.  One of our favorite designers for cool chic summer dressing is Nieves Lavi.

Based in New York, the design duo behind the label, Sharon Lavi and Sam Velez have been quietly building an extraordinary brand that is coveted by those in the know.

Both having previously worked as designers for DKNY, Vera Wang and Ralph Lauren, they decided they wanted to go it alone and make exactly what they loved.  And what they love is gorgeous prints.  Together, they work obsessively every season to create their own beautiful and unique colorful prints at their airy studio in Manhattan’s fashion district.  The silk textiles are then transformed in to dreamy dresses, kaftans, rompers and trousers, light as a feather and luxuriously stylish.

Nieves Lavi is a favorite of many celebrities as well as stylish women around town and for good reason, the fabrics are divine, the prints original and the clothes are just so comfortable and easy to wear.  The prints are always inspired by what the designers are feeling and this summer it was Rio, with tropical birds, extraordinary colors and vibrant designs.

Our favorite this season is the purple and orange African print used in gorgeous summer dresses and cover ups.  So perfect for running around the City, but throw on a pair of high heals and you could wear it to an event.  This can be said for all of their designs, the pants, the cute little jump suits, everything screams chic summer style but in that perfect, I just threw it on kind of way.

Because many of the clothes are made in silk or silk jersey, they also fold up incredibly small so are perfect for packing for summer travel.  You can find Nieves Lavi at boutiques and stores across the country including Saks and Neiman Marcas.
