A Shopping Gem At The Wythe

DSC_0042Following a delicious lunch last week at the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg we stumbled on a truly special new store.   Located in the airy ground floor lobby of the Wythe Hotel is a retail outpost, currently curated by Brooklyn-based designer Caron Callahan (whose career includes stints at Steven Alan, Barney’s and Derek Lam).  As you would expect from Brooklyn’s hottest neighborhood, this isn’t just another “hotel store” but rather a best of Brooklyn and surrounding locales, brought together under the discerning of eye of Callahan’s exceptional good taste.

We instantly spotted some of our favorite things such as Ulla Johnson’s gorgeous footwear and Marlow Goods’ rich leather bags as well as a terrific selection of artisan jewelry by designers such as Winifred Grace and Suzannah Wainhouse.  The line of natural and organic beauty products in the store’s apothecary section is exceptional, selected by natural skin care guru Jessa Blades, who’s on hand much of the time to share her incredible depth of knowledge. There’s also a terrific selection of carefully selected clothing, including some new specifically made pieces by Caron Callahan herself as well as books, magazines, cute knitted hats and gift ideas galore.  This is a rotating retail concept so expect lots of original retail offerings at the hotel in the future. With Callahan’s store only open until December, it just means you’ll have to think of lots of excuses to go to the Wythe and shop over the next few months.

Caron Callahan. Wythe Hotel. 80 Wythe Avenue. Williamsburg. Brooklyn. NY. 11249. Tel: 718 747 4493.
Open Daily 10am – 8pm
