Maison O, despite its French sounding name, is a hot new Japanese restaurant with a jumping Karaoke Bar downstairs. It’s upbeat vibe, with food made for sharing, has made it a quick favorite for the New York fashion crowd.
The food is straight up yummy with crowd pleasers you’d expect like sushi and sashimi, but the restaurant’s focal point is the Yakatori Grill. Here you’ll find hot fired vegetable, fish and meat dishes that will make your mouth water as you see each dish produced. It’s no surprise that the food is so good with chef Tadashi Ono at the helm, who until it shuttered, was the chef at former Japanese hotspot, Matsuri.
With well curated music blasting (though not so loud that you can’t speak) this is one of those spaces that makes you feel like you’re part of a giant cool party just by eating here. There’s also a 25 seat cocktail bar in the restaurant or if the mood takes you, you can head downstairs to the Stardust lounge to test out your vocal talents at the Karaoke Bar.
