Stores We Like The Most – Bird

DSC_0043Bird’s flagship store in Williamsburg is one of our favorite places to shop for clothes in all of New York. Their thoughtfully curated stock always has a perfect combination of new designer’s we’ve never heard of (but instantly adore) along with those essential cool designers we buy every season, the likes of Acne Studios, Rachel Comey, Alexander Wang and Isabel Marant.

Bird’s owner Jen Mankins (above) has an incredible eye for the latest and greatest.  In fact, one of our New York Fashion Week highlights this year was following Bird’s Instagram feed to see Jen’s picks as she posted live photos of her favorite looks from each show she attended. Bird also carries brands that are hard to find Stateside such as Japanese designer Minä Perhonen as well as being a huge champion of new and local designers.

There’s a great selection of menswear as well as jewelry, a stunning array of ceramics, hand-made soaps and a vast collection of fabulous bags from the coolest lines like WANT Les Essentiels de la Vie, Jerome Dreyfuss and Comme des Garçons.

The staff at Bird are just as stylish as the clothes in store so we asked Lily and Jack, two of the cool staffers for their top picks in store for Spring.  Lily’s was easy, she’d buy a Raquel Allegra Leopard Print Linen Blazer and pair it with Acne Lenna Interwoven Leather Sandal’s (pictured below left).  Jack’s pick for us was Rachel Comey’s Wilding Popcorn dress worn with a 3.1 Phillip Lim 31 Minute Ponyhair Pouch, perfect (and fabulous!) wardrobe updates for the coming warm weather ahead.

  1. I remember when I bought my first pair of Rachel Comey boots at Bird. They really do have the dreamiest assortment, and such chic girls! LOVE it. The best is when Jen cleans out her closet and they sell the items….
