Killer Heels in Brooklyn

heelsThe Brooklyn Museum of art is giving the Metropolitan Museum of Art a run for its money with a new exhibition debuting this fall “Killer Heels: The Art of the HIgh-Heeled Shoe”.  The exhibition will feature heels from as far back as the 1600s and we can only imagine the extraordinary heels from recent decades which will include shoes from Manolo Blahnik, Chanel, Tom Ford, Zaha Hadid, Pierre Hardy, Iris van Herpen, Nicholas Kirkwood, Christian Louboutin, Alexander McQueen, Prada, Winde Rienstra, Elsa Schiaparelli, Noritaka Tatehana, Salvatore Ferragamo, Roger Vivier and Vivienne Westwood, as well as works from the Bata Shoe Museum and the Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection at the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The museum has also commissioned six short films specifically for the exhhibition from artists Ghada Amer and Reza Farkhondeh, Zach Gold, Steven Klein, Nick Knight, Marilyn Minter, and Rashaad Newsome. We were blown away by the Brooklyn Museum of Art’s recent show “The FashionWorld of Jean Paul Gaultier” so can hardly wait for their Killer Heels exhibit this fall.
