Maya Gorgoni is the creative force behind New York label Royal Jelly Harlem. With a fashion and home decor line designed in New York, Royal Jelly Harlem has one foot in the City and the other planted firmly on the African Continent. The line calls attention to the beauty and artistry of West African prints and textiles but with a decidedly New York twist. We asked Maya to share her weekend plans with us for our Summer Friday’s feature.
ESCAPE – Where are you travelling to?
I’m heading out to East Hampton, staying at Blakes B&B and and visiting friends Claudja & Mark at their hot destination boutique, Lazy Point in Amagansett. (Royal Jelly Harlem selling exclusively there too!)
PLAYLIST – What will you be listening to?
A brilliant playlist I made with tunes from Cesaria Evoria and Alpha Blondy among other dope African groove hits.
MENU – What will you be cooking or eating?
I’m looking forward to a well deserved meal and lovely bottle of wine at Sean MacPhearson’s, The Crow’s Nest in Montauk.
READING – What are you planning to read?
I’m re reading the whimsical story ‘The Baron in the Trees’ by Italo Calvino.
LOOK – What will you be wearing?
I plan to wear my Royal Jelly Harlem ‘Lulu’ dress, Stuart Weitzman Ivory Vecchio ‘DandyPerf’ Oxfords along with my traditional Men’s Amish Straw Hat and signature matte lip, Mac’s Ruby Woo!
