Killer Heels In Brooklyn

DSC_6876

Yesterday saw the opening of Killer Heels: The Art of the High-Heeled Shoe at the Brooklyn Museum.  With over 160 beautifully designed pairs of high-heels, the show is a trip through every iconic shoe imaginable alongside many important historical pairs, dating back as far as the seventeenth century.

There’s the famous purple Vivienne Westwood sky-high-heeled shoes that had Naomi Campbell trip most graciously on the runway during the designer’s show in the 90s, a pair of silver Chanel boots with a pearl sole that might be the most beautiful pair of boots we’ve ever seen, as well as recent designs such as the fabulous Prada lipstick heels. For die-hard fans of more recent designs, there’s just about every pair of infamous Louboutin shoes, Céline fur pumps from last season and United Nude’s Lady Gaga boots.

Brooklyn Museum. 200 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11238. Tel: 718 638 5000. On Show until February 15, 2015.
