Falling From Up High

get-attachment.aspxRyan McGinley, the photographer best known for documenting his young and beautiful friends for the past decade has a wonderful, dreamy art piece on display at the High Line Billboard on 10th Avenue.

We’ve walked past the piece at many different times of the day and each time it looks different depending on where the shadows throw on to the art piece.  Sometimes you can see shadows of buildings, the lights that illuminate the piece or even the people walking by on the High Line.

McGinley shot to fame at the age of 25 as the youngest person to ever have a solo show at The Whitney, his inspiration comes from the young counter-culture he surrounds himself with. The piece at the High Line is dreamy and somehow manages to invoke that happy summer carefree feeling of youth.

Ryan McGinley. Blue Falling. 2007. High Line Billboard. 10th Avenue at 18th Street. New York. 10011. April 1 – 30th, 2013.
